1 Lovelock Drive is just days away from launching

This is my last week ahead of the launch of 1 Lovelock Drive, and I’m surprisingly calm about it. It’s the calmest I’ve ever felt before a launch, probably because I’ve had a few things already indicating I’m on the right track.

I call these the business launch green flags.

They are everything to tell you that the people you’re marketing to are into what you’re putting out. Some people go down the professional green flag seeking; they do things like:

Paid market research - Where you pay companies to run focus groups and evaluate your product, giving you measured and targeted feedback for improvement. If I had the money for it, I would probably engage in market research. But considering how low cost my product, an internet column, is to produce, the cost of the research would outweigh launching it and evaluating it on the fly.
Customer market research - This is when you turn to your existing customers and ask them to review/weigh in on your ideas. I love this idea, for most product launches, because it helps people buy into the idea of the new item before launch. They feel ownership over it, they want to tell people about it, and their involvement spreads as positive word of mouth. Everyone wins.

As I haven’t gone down this path, I’ve looked for green and red flags elsewhere in my marketing and communication with the reader.

Market research would have only put me behind and given me reasons to quit. I know myself well enough to realise what obstacles stop me from putting out something (products, articles, writing). When I keep putting barriers on my work, when I only put out something that is perfect, I sabotage myself.

Because sometimes, I can never get it perfect. Perfect in my eyes, that is.
